The latest Muppet film, Muppets Most Wanted, launched into theatres today. Lucky for us, we caught a glimpse of our favorite Muppets and their human co-stars, including Ricky Gervais (Night at the Museum) and Ty Burrell (ABC’s Modern Family) at the red-carpet premiere right down the street from the Hollywood Wax Museum!
The movie finds the Muppets gang going on a grand European tour. But in the meantime, poor Kermit gets mistaken for a criminal mastermind named Constantine — who happens to look like everyone’s favorite frog — and is thrown in jail! Constantine (masquerading as Kermie) and his evil cohort Dominic (Gervais) end up joining the Muppets on their tour in order to pull off an international jewel heist. Can the Muppets find Kermit before it’s too late?
The Muppets Most Wanted premiere took place at the El Capitan Theatre on March 11th, and the street was teaming with Muppet fans! As you can see, the entire boulevard was taken over for the big event — so we took our place amongst tons of fans and a gaggle of photographers to see all the stars in attendance.
The Muppets themselves even showed up in their very own limo!
Did you know the original Kermit puppet was created from a discarded beige coat and a few ping pong balls? These days, Muppets like Gonzo, Walter, Scooter, and Animal are made from a special fleece that can be cut and shaped to the builder’s whims. And all the stitching is “invisible,” thanks to a technique that mastermind Jim Henson invented…
